"One of the craziest and most ambitious book projects ever is Birds of Americaby John James Audubon. It measures 99 x 68 cm and weighs 15 kg and contains 435 life size illustrations. Before Audubon painted the images he caught and stuffed all the birds himself - it took him 12 years (1827–1839) to compile all the material and get the book printed.

As an homage to J J Audubon we have been putting up life size photographs of birds around the world since 2006. We aim to do this for 12 years, until 2018. By then we should have been able to put up 435 differnet species of birds. The material will then be compiled in a book measuring 99 x 68 cm."
